Complete a Meal Application Today!

We need your help to ensure that crucial programs for your children do not receive cuts in funding as a result of fewer free/reduced-price lunch applications being submitted.

Many of the services we provide such as tutoring, support staff, and access to technology are funded through state and federal grants. This funding is based on the National School Lunch Program Free and Reduced lunch applications we receive from families each year.

Even though your child is currently receiving free meals for the remainder of the school year, we ask you to please take a few minutes to submit an application – even if you think you will not qualify. Every application received is important. Families with approved free or reduced-price lunch applications may also qualify for additional federal benefits such as the Pandemic EBT card.

Please click on EZMealApp.com and complete your application TODAY on the secure portal. It takes just a few minutes. Paper applications are also available online at our Child Nutrition Services page.

Our eligibility for this funding expires in early January, so we appreciate you completing the application now. Your application will remain active for the first 30 days of the 2021-2022 school year.

Immunizations Required for 11-Year-Olds

The Arizona Department of Health Services requires that all 11-year-old children obtain two adolescent vaccines, Tdap and Meningococcal (MCV4), or provide a valid exemption. These new immunizations are important as they will provide protection against serious illness.

Tdap is a combination vaccine that provides protection against three bacterial diseases — Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Whooping Cough). Meningococcal prevents against four types of bacterial meningitis.

Parents should review their child’s immunization records. If these vaccinations have not been received, the child should obtain the vaccination at either their doctor’s office or an immunization clinic. Proof of immunizations will need to be received before the student can begin school.

Children who are not yet 11 will be required to get the new immunizations once they turn 11.

Rogers Ranch Engineering Team Places 4th in National Competition

Rogers Ranch’s MESA team competed in the Math, Engineering and Science Achievement’s National Competition in Tucson this summer. The team came in fourth place overall and took third place for their written report. They were the youngest team to compete.

The team took first place at the MESA state competition in March. The sixth grade students; Ana Fritts, Thomas Beltran, Isabel Cardenas, and Brenan Wesolek; designed a water bottle holder that reminds the user to drink. The challenge required the students to code an arduino microcontroller to solve a real-world problem. The students demonstrated their prototype in two presentations, completed a report, and poster, which were all used to determine their score.

The same team also took first place in the 2018 state competition and traveled to Philadelphia to compete nationally.

The MESA program is sponsored by the U of A and GCU.

Rogers Ranch MESA Team Takes 4th Place at Nationals

A team of four students from Rogers Ranch competed in the national MESA (Math, Science, Engineering, and Science Achievement) competition in Philadelphia June 21- 22.

Students Thomas Beltran, Ana Fritts, Isabel Cardenas, and Brenan Wesolek were 5th graders last school year when they won the state competition for the middle school division in Arizona. The challenge was to engineer a project that would solve a real-world problem using an Arduino (micro-computer). Based on an experience by Isabel’s father running a night marathon, the team designed a wristband that could send out an SOS sequence of lights through LED lights for lost hikers and outdoor adventurers to summon help if they were lost or stranded in the desert.

At the national competition in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania eleven states were represented. The teams were judged on 4 areas — a 10-page report, a detailed poster, a technical interview with the judges, and a “pitch” presentation.

The Rogers Ranch team came in 2nd place in the poster category for the middle school division. The team also scored 4th place overall when the scores were averaged for all categories.

Most of all, the students had a great time in Philadelphia, learned a lot about engineering, and loved the experience of competing. They have already started planning for next year’s competition.
