Donate to Laveen schools and claim a credit on your 2020 taxes.

You can reduce the amount you owe in taxes by making a donation to Laveen schools through Arizona’s Public School Tax Credit Program. Tax credit contributions may only be used to support character education and fee-based extracurricular activities such as after-school tutoring and clubs, academic enrichment, field trips, fine art programs, and athletics.

For every dollar you donate, the amount you owe on your Arizona taxes will be that much less. This means you can reduce the amount you owe before the deadline or increase the amount of your refund if you have tax liabilities for 2020. If you do not owe taxes, the amount you donate may be carried forward for up to five years to offset future tax liabilities. For example, if a single person owes $300 on their state taxes for 2020 and donates the maximum amount of $200, they will then only owe the state $100.

Couples filing jointly may donate any amount up to $400. Individuals may contribute up to $200.

The deadline to donate and claim a tax credit on your 2018 taxes is May 17, 2021.

Complete a Meal Application Today!

We need your help to ensure that crucial programs for your children do not receive cuts in funding as a result of fewer free/reduced-price lunch applications being submitted.

Many of the services we provide such as tutoring, support staff, and access to technology are funded through state and federal grants. This funding is based on the National School Lunch Program Free and Reduced lunch applications we receive from families each year.

Even though your child is currently receiving free meals for the remainder of the school year, we ask you to please take a few minutes to submit an application – even if you think you will not qualify. Every application received is important. Families with approved free or reduced-price lunch applications may also qualify for additional federal benefits such as the Pandemic EBT card.

Please click on and complete your application TODAY on the secure portal. It takes just a few minutes. Paper applications are also available online at our Child Nutrition Services page.

Our eligibility for this funding expires in early January, so we appreciate you completing the application now. Your application will remain active for the first 30 days of the 2021-2022 school year.

Child Nutrition Services will continue to provide free meals to all children under the age of 18. Meals will be distributed curbside at all schools with the exception of EFGA. Three meals and a snack will be provided at the same time. Distribution windows are 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. Laveen Shares Local Health Benchmark Data, Reopening Updates

As we look forward to safely reopening our schools for in-person, on-site instruction, Laveen is following guidance provided by the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) and the Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH).  Both agencies recommend that school districts meet three benchmarks for two consecutive weeks before offering the option of on-site instruction.

On September 3, MCDPH released data that shows Laveen trending towards meeting the public health benchmarks. We will monitor the data for another few weeks to ensure the trend continues.

We are hopeful that we can safely begin the on-site instruction option after Fall Break (October 12).

Immunizations Required for 11-Year-Olds

The Arizona Department of Health Services requires that all 11-year-old children obtain two adolescent vaccines, Tdap and Meningococcal (MCV4), or provide a valid exemption. These new immunizations are important as they will provide protection against serious illness.

Tdap is a combination vaccine that provides protection against three bacterial diseases — Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Whooping Cough). Meningococcal prevents against four types of bacterial meningitis.

Parents should review their child’s immunization records. If these vaccinations have not been received, the child should obtain the vaccination at either their doctor’s office or an immunization clinic. Proof of immunizations will need to be received before the student can begin school.

Children who are not yet 11 will be required to get the new immunizations once they turn 11.
